Eternal is a dance show that raises questions about the role of the dancing body in facing the despotic political regimes in the Arab countries and the transformations it went through in order to become a rebellious political movement that can face oppression and torture using music and dance. Using the accounts of the events that took place since 2010 and since the start of the Arab Spring revolutions, we find that the body has acquired certain techniques and vocabulary that gave it unique strength and coping mechanisms to help it withstand and survive in the face of these regimes until the day they may be overthrown.
The evening will also present the fifth phase of “HOME”, an international collaboration between Valerie Green/Dance Entropy and choreographers from diverse countries. Mr. Diab, from Lebanon, will approach the idea of home on seven VG/DE company members from his perspective on what home means to him.
